THE BANDS OF ASHLEY HIGH SCHOOL

Ashley High School offers a comprehensive band program serving around one hundred twenty students from southern New Hanover County. Students participate in multiple ensembles, including two concert bands, marching band, percussion ensembles, jazz band, chamber and small ensembles, colorguard/winterguard, and pep band.

The Wind Ensemble and Concert Band represent Ashley High School in the NCBA Eastern District Music Performance Adjudication each year and consistently earns superior ratings. The Screaming Eagle Regiment (marching band) competes throughout central and southeastern North Carolina and has won many awards, including multiple Grand Championships at local and regional competitions. The percussion and chamber ensembles consistently receive superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication. The Winterguard competes in the CEWA circuit and placed 4th in their class in their inaugural season.band pic

ASHLEY HIGH SCHOOL BAND BOOSTERS

The purpose of the Band Boosters is to coordinate parent/community/volunteer involvement while raising funds to support the activities of the band program and vision of the band director. This includes both short term and long term planning for the program in order to ensure the success of all the students. The Ashley High School Band Boosters is a 501c(3) charitable organization and operates within the guidelines of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

ASHLEY HIGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITYashley-ext

Eugene Ashley High School is located in southern New Hanover County just outside Wilmington between Monkey Junction and Carolina Beach. The school serves between 1,700 and 2,000 students and offers outstanding educational opportunities above the normal curriculum, including Advanced Placement courses, Career and Technical Education classes and fully comprehensive Fine Arts department; with multiple visual art and ceramics classes, theater arts, theater tech, chorus, orchestra and band programs. The Performing Arts department is housed in the Minnie Evans Arts Center, a professional quality 990 seat theater/auditorium. The school is located only a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean in the Veterans Park complex along with Anderson Elementary School and Murray Middle School.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS
Ashley High School is feed directly from two county middle schools, Murray Middle and Myrtle Grove Middle. Both schools have strong reputation as quality band programs and are involved in the NCBA Eastern district, placing members in the Eastern District All-District Band and the NC State Honors Band. NHC has an open choice policy, allowing students from all middle schools to attend any area high school though an application and acceptance program.
